As your daughter grows through her softball career, we hope to continue to be your softball home not only for our wonderful recreation program, but also our competitive tournament team program offerings. For many families, WUSA's tournament team offerings beginning at the 8U level strike a perfect balance between the amount of softball commitment required to play at a progressively high level as our teams do, and the understanding that softball is only a part of your daughter's / family's lives. This balance allows time for other activities or interests. What could be better than that!?
- Tryouts for our 14U teams and our 12U Wave teams will be held the weekend of August 18th
- Tryouts for the 8U, 10U and secondary 12U teams will be held the weekend of September 15th
14U Fall Tournament Team Player Eligibility:
- Age qualification:
- Players born between 9/1/2009- 12/31/2011. *Note: Players born between 9/1/2011 - 12/31/2011 may play 12U if desired (this date aligns with WUSA's revised date cutoff & is consistent with USA Softball).
- WUSA participation qualification:
- Girls who played in the Spring 2024 Recreation Season are eligible to tryout for a Fall Tournament Team.
- Girls enrolled in the Fall 2024 Recreation Season are eligible to tryout for a Fall Tournament Team.
Note: 14U Fall Tournament Teams are formed in the usual way with the Wave team formation then subsequent teams formed based on player/coach availability. 14U players who tryout and are not selected for a tournament team may enroll in the Fall Recreation season program to continue to maintain/grow her skills.
12U Fall Tournament Team Player Eligibility:
- Age qualification:
- Players born between 9/1/2011 - 12/31/2013. *Players born between 9/1/2013 - 12/31/2013 may play 10U if desired. (this date aligns with WUSA's revised date cutoff & is consistent with USA Softball)
- WUSA participation qualification:
- 11U and 12U players enrolled in the upcoming Fall 2024 Recreation Season are eligible to tryout for a 12U Fall Tournament Team.
- Rising 11U players who are trying out for a 12U Tournament team must enroll in the Fall Recreation program to be eligible for tryouts.
- Rising 12U players who played 11U in the Spring 2024 Recreation Season are eligible to tryout for a Fall Tournament Team without obligation to play the Fall 2024 Recreation Season if selected for the Fall 12U Wave Team.
- After tryouts conclude and the Fall 12U Wave team is announced, any rising 12U players not selected for the Fall 12U Wave Team must enroll in the Fall 2024 Recreation program (if not already enrolled) to be eligible for a secondary 12U Fall tournament team. Enrollment will be allowed at the regular registration rate.
- Rising 12U players who desire to tryout for a tournament team, but DID NOT participate in the previous Spring 2024 Recreation Season must enroll in the Fall 2024 Recreation program to be eligible.

8U - 10U Fall Tournament Team Player Eligibility:
- Age Qualifications:
- Players must be within the appropriate age range for the 8U and 10U divisions respectively
- Participation Qualifications:
- Players must be enrolled in the Fall Ball recreation program to participate on WUSA Fall Tournament Teams
Additional Notes on Player Eligibility for all WUSA Tournament Teams:
No player may play for a non-WUSA tournament or select team while on the roster of an active WUSA recreational or tournament team. Players discovered to be playing for a select team while on the roster of an active WUSA recreational or tournament team will be considered ineligible. Ineligible players will be removed from the WUSA team with no refund of registration fees and/or tournament team fees.
What Happens after the Fall Tournament Teams Complete the Season and What Can I Expect for Spring/Summer 2025?
First, enjoy a well-deserved break. This is one of the benefits of WUSA. As we start 2025, 8U - 12U players wiill join the Spring Season as usual. Similarly our 14U players may join our Spring Season's 14U program and be part of the WUSA-led consortium of teams that play games on weekdays against each other as well as area middle school and other rec league teams. New for 2025, WUSA plans to conduct our Summer 2025, 14U Tournament Team tryouts early (~Mid-February). Once our 14U teams are formed, these teams may practice and play together as the team has availability and may give a head start into the summer for these 14U teams.
Summer 2025 Tournament Team Player Eligibility
All girls enrolled in the current Spring Recreation Season (7 – 14U) are eligible to tryout for a WUSA Summer Tournament Team.
WUSA Players having played a total of 6 Fall or Spring recreation seasons with WUSA are eligible to participate in WUSA’s 14U or older division (e.g. 16U & 18U) summer program. 14U, 16U, and 18U players may request an exemption to this requirement by writing to the WUSA President, WUSA TT Director, and WUSA Executive Committee. Requests must be received prior to tryouts for the Summer TT Season.
