WUSA Tournament Teams Program Information
As your daughter grows through her softball career, we hope to continue to be your softball home not only for our wonderful recreation program, but also our competitive tournament team program offerings. For many families, WUSA's tournament team offerings beginning at the 8U level strike a perfect balance between the amount of softball commitment required to play at a progressively high level as our teams do, and the understanding that softball is only a part of your daughter's / family's lives. This balance allows time for other activities or interests. What could be better than that!?
Each Summer and Fall, WUSA provides girls between the ages of 7 and 18 the opportunity to play on our competitive tournament teams. These teams will play teams from outside the league around the Houston area in a more highly competitive environment. To qualify for consideration for selection to a tournament team, players must first meet eligibility criteria by being actively enrolled in a WUSA recreation season (8U, 10U, and 1st year 12U TT divisions), or having been enrolled in the league previously for the 2nd year 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U divisions.
Eligible players will then tryout during the division's evaluation session conducted by a panel of WUSA Coaches. The players' parents will be notified directly and teams will be posted on the website within a few weeks after tryouts conclude.
WUSA will form several teams within each age division as there is player/family interest, pitcher-catcher availability (10U and older divisions), and coaching support.
- Summer Tournament Teams: Summer Tournament Team tryouts are held in mid-March and begin tournament play following the end of the Spring recreation season. Tournament teams play between 3 and 4 tournaments a month from early May through the end of June.
- Fall Tournament Teams: Fall Tournament Team tryouts for our 14U Tournament Teams and our 12U Wave Tournament Team are conducted in mid-August. Owning to differing participation requirements for recreation ball, tryouts for 8U, 10U, and non-Wave 12U teams are held in early September after Fall Ball Recreation season enrollment closes. Fall tournament teams play approximately 2 tournaments a month through mid-November.
